Blame it on the West
Everyone has heard about the presidential elections in the Ivory Coast and the controversial results that made Laurent Gbagbo president once again. On Sunday, President Laurent Gbagbo has known claim that Western officials have attempted to destabilize the country from him by backing the man who ran against him in the elections. He made these allegations on national television to the entire country. They say the reasons for Gbagbo's accusations is that he is facing threats of sanctions. The link to the article can be found here. I think the last paragraph should be very interesting to everyone.

Cheney v. Nigeria
I was going through articles on CNN and I came across this particular one. Apparently Nigeria has filed charges against former V.P. Dick Cheney for paying bribes in the 1990s. Observers say that this is simply a publicity stunt. Still it shouldn't be a surprise really.
"The investigation is part of a long-running case involving Halliburton and a subsidiary firm, Kellogg, Brown and Root, over alleged bribes paid to Nigerian officials to secure $6 billion worth of contracts for a liquefied natural gas project in the Niger Delta."
You know the old saying: A picture is worth a thousand words.

A Lost Blog
I remember a while back that I was going to write about the vuvuzela but I completely forgot about it. You know, those really long horns that make perhaps the most annoying sound on the planet and single handedly ruining this year's world cup in South Africa. I decided to go on Youtube and see if I can find a video worthy of posting on my blog. Well I found a worthy one, the following video is a parody of Downfall so enjoy.

Goodluck
Even though this story is over a month old, it's still a pretty awesome one. We all know how everyone uses Facebook from updating our status to writing on a friend's wall. Well, Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan, has a Facebook profile. He's always updating his status or writing notes. He used the site to announce his candidacy for president to more than 240,000 "friends." Here is his link to his page, for as of Nov 1, has reached more than 300,000 "friends." Lastly, how awesome is his first name, Goodluck.

Ahhh Venice... beach..
Last Monday I was in Venice Beach with my mom and older sister looking for hair dye. It was my first time visiting Venice Beach, and I have to say there are a lot of "interesting" people. While walking down the road, we noticed that they was a filming crew set up next to a house that used to sell marijuana.
I saw one particular guy who was dressed up in African garment with a walking stick and I thought back to my African Studies class. As I stopped to take a picture of the set, the guy came up to me and said hello and how I'm doing. I responded back by saying I'm good. He then quickly walked away so I left as well. I was heading into one of the shops when all of sudden I hear someone shouting "I want to take a chihuahua back to Africa!" I looked over and it was the same guy! And that's not all he said. Many of his phrases were "Where all the rich white people at?" and "I'm a man, not a women!" I was thinking to myself "Holy crap this guy must be on something." I've managed to take a quick picture before I left, not the best quality, but it will do.
